.
3) MAID IN HEAVEN....BEBOP DE LUXE....SHORT BUT SWEET, MELODIOUS (AS ALL BILLY BOYS CREATIONS ARE) THE SONG HAS SUBSTANCE AND THEY (bbdl) ARE FAR TOO UNDERRATED/IGNORED !
.
4) SEE EMILY PLAY....PINK FLOYD, WHEN THIS FIRST CAME OUT (I WAS 17) IT TOOK ME, AND SOME OF MY MATES, TO A DIFFERENT LEVEL (NO ASSISTANCE!!!) AND IS TRULY A FLOYD CLASSIC, BRILLIANT,ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE (AS WERE THE 60S)

PAULS FIVE
.
following on from little sexy revealing the toons that float his boat we have the powerhouse sticksman of the erics showing and telling his current faves
.
ok dudes
.
in no order -

.
Thunder road - Bruce Springsteen
.
Inspiring lyric- full of hope - for me this song suggests that despite everything there night be something for us all at the heart of the american dream. Simply brilliant songwriting. Come to an Erics gig and me and sam will sing the whole song for you
(while bsd and lsd pack up!)
,
,
Dignity - Deacon Blue
. great bass groove - meaningful lyric - I have sungalong to the first verse at so many DB shows and nearly cried everytime
.
.
Yesterday - The beatles
. well Paul Mcartney - I know its all been said but my mum introduced me to this song in the late 60's and it never fails to move me -its the 'why she had to go.....' bit that knocks me back
.
.
Please Sir - Martyn Joseph
. In truth it could be anyone of five or six mj songs -but this sums his songwriting up -power and passion but subtle in the way he makes a really important point using everyday observations. If you never see Mj live you have missed out!
.
.
Wont Get Fooled again - The Who
. Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont usually boast about The Erics...........but.........our version of this classic is the best I've heard. Come to think of it, its the only one I've heard!
.
more to come + tell us yours

HAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON
.
sun saw us make our second trip to the three horseshoes headingley
.
great boozer with and even better landlord the hunky shape of barry
.
(CHEERS FOR THE BEERS)
.
started a bit quiet, but ended up with a big crowd of post sunday lunchers sweating their nuts off in the near tropical heat, the students stayed nearer the back, think they were a bit scared after the first set banter
.
the girls were up for a piss up (no pics, soz) and there were a few rather weird dancers
.
back there later in the year
.
the next gig is over at tommy turtles magnificent boozer the New Inn 144 Shay Lane, Walton, Wakefield,WF2 6LA, Phone :- 01924 255447
.
on tues 5th feb
,
see ya there

.
the next gig is over at tommy turtles magnificent boozer the New Inn 144 Shay Lane, Walton, Wakefield,WF2 6LA, Phone :- 01924 255447
.
on tues 5th feb
.
its only our second gig here but tommy has become a good mate since last years Halloween bash and most of the band have been back over a few times to see bands or eat in his rather splendid restaurant
.
we will be onstage at 9pm but why not treat yersens and turn up early to try out the menu, the beef in red wine is to die for,
well the cow did (SORRY SAM)
.
and speaking of old cows.....
.
thurs 14th feb sees us celebrating valentines night at the Foresters Arms 187 Barnsley Rd Wakefield, WF1 5NU
.
so instead of doing the usual lads trick of totally forgetting the day and having to pick up the last card and a bunch of sad, soggy flowers from the garage on the way home from work, why not drag 'er indoors out for a stout and a packet of pork scratchings to show her how much you really do care
,
and as it says on the poster, once we get her warmed up with our big, manly bodies and our gyrating , suggestive stage moves you'll be guaranteed a shag
.

LSD's BIG FIVE
.

a couple of years back we decided to share with the erics faithfull (you lucky, lucky people) our most fave songs ever, ever, ever, ever ,ever of all time ..............EVER!!

,

but as people grow and new songs come out things change, so over the next few weeks we'll be putting our faves as they are now up on this splendid tinterwebby thingy

,

and seeing as he dint get a chance to air his gems last time (STEADY) we are starting starting with the smallest sexbomb of the erics ranks
.
LSD in his own words

(yes he does actually speak)
.

In no particular order, off the top of my head..

.

Thin Lizzy - Still in love with you (Live Version)

.

Loved this song the first time I heard it 20 odd years ago and still love it now. Probably not the greatest technical guitar solo's known to man but the feel still gets to me. Brilliant song from one of my fave all time bands

.

As Time Slips By - Vinnie Moore

.

A cracking tune from a widdle master, in my opinion it shows the sheer technical wizardry of Vinnie, its got load of feel, melody and variety of styles. Always puts a smile on my face. Usually forming the word Bast**d..

.

Van Morrison - Have I told you lately that I love you

.
Musically this song is genius, chord construction brilliant, the ascending piano solo melody tremendously effective , lyrically superb to me probably best romantic ballad written. By the way I've now taken my bra off....

.

Perfect Blue Buildings - Counting Crows

.

This song wouldn't leave my mind when my dad was in the final stages of cancer I found it particulary moving. When I hear it now it still reminds me of my dad in better times, but it also makes me think of my own mortality and ineviable destiny. Great song, great band

.

Daydream - Robin Trower (Live)

.

In my opinion one of the most under-rated guitarists of the last 40+ Years. This brings back great memories from the 5th form common room at School with Sam. If I remember rightly we all (all the 5th form) chipped in to buy areally Shite record player which was mainly taken over by rock fans. Iremember a guy called Ruben (a guy who wore Spangled hot pants to school on non uniform day.. Day rhymes with ???) attempted to put on a Disco Album ...Needless to say Trower won the day .. And rightly so This song has a cracking intro and solo oozes feel and passion. Many memories and a superb tune..

.

sorry dave, just couldnt resist it

.

.
hope to see you at the three horseshoes headingley leeds on sun 20th jan
.
onstage at 8 pm / free entry
.
and the beers quite cheap too

.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO CUM

.

to start the new year in fine form (multi talented sex gods) the erics have decided to get into shape

.

and the shape we have all decided on is round

,

sam and dave (still a good name for a group) have been working very hard for the past twelve months to achieve this goal and paul and little dave promise that they will soon be up to scratch

.

the band have also decided to start seeing other bands on the local scene so that they can pinch all of there best bits, but this has brought its own problems

.

namely the point of security and safety, gone are the days when little sexy could nip down to the bookies for a flutter on the dogs, and sam is finding it harder and harder to go unnoticed while cruising the areas park bushes in search of other wham fans, so we have had to resort to security guards and state of the art undercover tactics

.

big sexy did get out last sunday to see heavy load at the queens head just outside of cas by disguising himself as mother therasa
.
(and they didn't even play sandals in the bin!)

.

great band, playing as a four piece as guitarist dobby was washing his hair, but you wouldn't have noticed as top bloke and all round clever git bass player col filled the gaps by playing some guitar parts whilst singing backing vocals and playing the bass parts on pedals

,

show off

.

full review to come on DAVES SITE

.

so hope to see you all at the wellington hotel 89 Harrogate Road, Bradford, BD2 3AX on sat night (12th)
