-we like fibbers-
.

Monday night saw Paul, Phil and Dave take a trip over to yorks very own fibbers bar to see erics fave Martyn Joseph play live

.

he may not be every erics fans cup of tea, just a guy playing acoustic guitar (very, very well) and singing thought provoking, sometimes spiritual and always captivating music, from the amazingly accurate relationship songs to the songs with a message of hope and a need to put things right in this shithole of a world that we call home

.

Paul, Sam and Dave first saw him supporting Tom Robinson over fifteen years ago and paul especially has followed his work ever since

.

this is how Phil describes Martyn Joseph

.
'This guy is simply amazing.

I have seen him twice now with yesterday's trip to Fibbers in York being the 2nd time. His guitar playing is truly accomplished and rings out to fill the room with music like a full band would. The dynamics he adds really lift his songs and pull you right in fixing your attention on what he does, how he plays, how he sings and what he is singing about.

The best thing about him is that you can't isolate one single thing and say it stands out over any other. When you are watching him you aren't watching a singer who can play guitar, or a guitar player who can sing. It is simply Martyn Joseph that stands out,

content and all'
.

'Simply awesome'

Four Guilty Men

Like Millions of others around the country, The Erics - Paul Sam Phil and Dave did not vote in the recent local elections.

As a band we regard Morley as our home base - Sam and Paul grew up there Dave and Phil have gained an affinity through the great support we have always enjoyed at gigs in the area.

All of us are shocked and dismayed at the recent election of a BNP councilor in the area. We agreed when we set this site up that we would not use it to push our own political agenda's (those who know us well will realise that this would be impossible as we can fall out with each other over virtually nothing!).

However this issue is too important to ignore.

You can't have listened to and performed the music of The Clash, The Jam, Tom Robinson, The Specials, Greenday etc etc over all these years without being educated by the ideas and principles which underpins much of their writing and music.
We like the music we have always played are essentially anti-fascist and therefore anti-BNP.
.
For those in any doubt, make no mistake - the BNP are straight from the pages of Mien Kamph, they will try to use the democracy which was saved from Hitler in WW2 to first gain credibility and then to overthrow it and carry out their real agenda of white supremacy and dictatorship (with the likes of their leader Nick Griffin as Fuhrer, god help us!).
.
Obviously there are issues which the BNP are exploiting which are of genuine concern to all of us - Immigration chaos (real or imagined), Islamic fundamentalism (could say Christian as well), areas perceived as modern day ghettos where crime and employment and education are real everyday problems.
.
Yes we have been badly let down by our politicians on these things, but is the answer really going to be a neo-Nazi one??
As the greatest English anti-fascist Winston Churchill said "Democracy is far from perfect, but it is preferable to the alternatives".
.
So if and when there is a movement in Morley to reverse this political disaster The Erics will support it, even if its just with our votes next time!

-HELL OF A NIGHT-
.

it has come to the attention of erics hq that someone has leaked the truth about our three week break to the worlds press and we have decided to issue a statement on the subject

. speaking from the penthouse suite of the Hilton hotel batley , dave eric tolds the assembled worlds press that the erics entered and WON the eurovision song contest under the guise of Finnish rock gods

.........http://www.lordi.org/

.

after being turned down by the UK as our astonishing musical ability and dashing good looks were deemed too likely to win (and who really wants to host the bloody thing next year) we were forced to go to the musical vacuum that is Finland to get our chance to shine
.

and shine we did with the rock anthem that is 'hard rock hallelujah' , a song of biblical proportions that took sam a mere ten minutes to write whilst sat in the toilets of bognor central train station suffering from explosive diarrhea

GOOLEYS UNCOVERED
.
we would like to thank miss Gertrude Piggenbottom for digging out this piece of erics memorabilia from the mid seventies when we were one of the highest paid clubturns in goole and surrounding areas
.
it brings back great memories of those wild and carefree times (and hair) when we would think nothing of playing a show , eating two packets of scampi fries washed down with three pints of shandy and having a good old romp in the back of the van
(with each other)
.
more tales of drunken debauchery to cum

-pauls new look-
.
BACK AT THE TUT THIS SAT
.
we may try a few changes to the set , but the biggest thing you will notice will be pauls stage clothing , paul has found at recent gigs that he has been getting a bit overheated (its his age) and has decided to go for the chilli peppers look
.
plus sam had his new hearing aid fitted and is set to go
. dave has trained scooby to bring him cider
.
and phil has finally found a stage look that shows off some of his best qualities
.
we had to put a small pic of phils trunk as a large one may have overexcited some of our readers
.
(please do not bring peanuts to any future gigs)

-SHOUT IT OUT LOUD-
.
our first night at new cas venue SHOUT went down really well last night
.
the gaffa Lorraine made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived by getting a round in
.
Lorraine got another round in , and then informed us that it was free beer all night for the band
oh how Phil , Sam and Paul laughed at the fact that they had to drive (tee hee)
.
so a big cheers to all who turned up and put up with having to pay the extortionate price of £1.40 a pint
.
cheers to all
a great night
and we really enjoyed it
.
see you
